DATA-TRIGGERED WATER CUBE

Global atmospheric motion becomes the behavior of a small virtual body of water. By compressing planetary weather into a contained surface, the work gives invisible flows an immediate physical and visual presence.

A place becomes a moving surface

A location connects the global wind field to the water below. Wind speed shapes amplitude and wind direction supplies a vector; gusts and rain introduce impulses, while humidity and cloud cover shape the light patterns. The water can be viewed from different angles as these conditions act upon its surface.

Weather as a set of parameters

The project brings together Earth Nullschool’s wind-field reference, location-based weather from Open-Meteo and Martin Renou’s Three.js water simulation. Weather measurements enter a generative system in which a distant atmospheric condition can be encountered at the scale of a small body of water.
