ENDLESS ROAD

Fragments from distant places meet along a shared road. Through depth estimation and image alignment, public road-camera observations become a continuously extending three-dimensional landscape. Different geographies, weather conditions and moments join one unfolding journey: a road that exists through the act of seeing.

Move through the observation

Visitors can rotate the viewpoint and move closer to or farther from the road. Changing the angle makes the reconstruction and its fragmented edges visible. An original camera image remains available beside the scene, placing the spatial transformation in conversation with the observation it came from.

A catalogue behind the journey

The work draws on periodically updated road-camera imagery from Fintraffic Digitraffic, the Hong Kong Transport Department, the MLIT Shiga National Highway Office and DriveBC. Its source catalogue preserves camera locations, images and attribution. Calibration determines which observations can enter the reconstructed road.
