ATLAS: SPECTRUM MUSEUM
A museum without fixed boundaries, where starlight connects individual and collective memories. Birth, encounter, parting and public events share the same sky. Personal remembrance becomes a public archive that can be browsed, shared and continually written, asking what deserves to be remembered and who gives it meaning.
A time, a place, a connection
Participants enter a person, a moment, a place and a memory to find the direction of the sky above that location. A memorial can hold one person or a shared constellation. Real stars become points of connection, while the lines between them express a relationship carried by the participants.
Let light enter listening
Stellar spectra also become a listening experience. Optical frequencies descend forty octaves into audible fundamentals; spectral features shape timbre, while celestial coordinates arrange the voices in space. Soft synthesis and reverberation give this translation its musical form.
Historical skies, a growing archive
The atlas draws on optical and infrared surveys including DSS2, 2MASS and AllWISE, alongside astronomical catalogues and spectra from sources such as SIMBAD and SDSS. These are historical observations. A chosen date locates the zenith for that moment; the archive gives this calculated direction a personal and collective meaning.
